how to calculate 1:2:4 ratio concrete cement, sand, metal
and water please give me brief calculation
Answer Posted / engr, daniel otoyo
For normal concrete which 1:2:4 is in this category, the concrete density is 2400kg/cm
Therefore 1cm of this concrete will weigh 2400x1kg= 2400kg
Sum of mix ratio = 1+2+4 = 7
The ratio (fraction) of cement in the mix is 1/7
And so weight of cement in 1cm of concrete will be 1/7 x 2400 = 342.857kg
Cement in bags of 50kg will translate to 342.857/50 =6.86kg
The above result approximate to 7bags if the required strength of the concrete
is to be achieved.
other constituents of concrete say fine and coarse aggregates can be found
through same procedure.
After finding the weight of the aggregates their densities are used to calculate their volumes.

Design a cantilever slab to carry a live load of 2000 N/m2. The overhang of the slab is 1.20m. b) A slab over a room is 4.75m x 4.75m. The edges of the slab are simply supported and the corners are not held down. The live load an the slab is 300 Kg/m2. The slab has a bearing of 15cm. On the supporting walls. Design the slab as per Rankine - Grashoff theory. Assume weight of R.C.C. = 2400 Kg/m2.
