Fuse wire has the work to melt and break the circuit if high amt current passes through it.Heat=i×i×R×t .So its resistance should be higher so that large heat is produced at that limit of current which is capable of melting the wire.It has high melting point because if it has low melting point the it will melt also if low amt current is passed which will make circuit break unneccessarily
