why we connect digital multimeter in series for dc current
measurement and parallel for dc voltage measurement.
Answer Posted / talha
In a D.C. circuit where there is a constant current flow, the digital multimeter is connected in series with circuit because the same current flows throughout the circuit from the positive side of the battery to the negative side and through the battery back to the positive side and so on.
The digital multimeter is connected in parallel to measure D.C. voltage because in parallel, although current varies / splits at parallel nodes, voltage remains constant.
Simply put in series connection, current remains constant and voltage divides. In parallel connection, voltage remains constant and current divides.
