Swap is Commonly known as virtual memory.
Swap is a Hard drive space an operating system reserves to use it as RAM (Random Access Memory), the amount of space used can be adjusted(increased or decreased). It is as good as RAM, not a permanent memory. very slow comparing to actual RAM, it also effects the system performance,
