As per Indian standard IS 1893- part 2, India has divided in to four diffrent zone as per force acting by earthquake. Zone 5 - Very high risk zone, Zone 4 - High risk zone, Zone 3 - Moderate zone Zone 2 - Low risk zone. Total percentage of land in India & intensity of earth quake : Zone II - 40.93% ( upto 4.9 ), Zone III- 30.79 % ( upto upto 6.9) , Zone IV - 17.49% ( upto 7.9) , Zone V- 10.79 ( 8 & more )
