What is the difference between Isolator & Load Break Switch?
Answer Posted / dharmendra kumar dwivedi
Your thread is not very clear. There are two types of AB switches one off load circuit breakers and other on load air circuit breakers. AB switches are normally off load circuit breakers with manual switching and can be called as isolators. Their design is simple and important design feature is only contact reliability and voltage and current rating. There is no fuse protection or over load or earth fault protection. For on load circuit make and break,ABCB/ OCB/MOCB/ VCB / SF6 circuit breakers are used depending on voltage and current rating. They operate on overload and earth fault with earth fault and overload tripping relays and arc quenching devices
