I want to illustrate it with simple example:
when we decided to go from city A to city B
verification:
At the time of journey , Are we on the right way.
Validation:
After reaching to city B,Are we at right place.
In the same way in software scenario:
Are we on right way when we are in development > verification
After development whatever we developed working properly as per requirement mentioned in SRS document>validation
