What is AVR? Explain the function AVR?
Answer Posted / rama kishore karri
AVR is an automatic voltage regulator. The function of AVR is to keep the terminal voltage constant as load variation on power lines. Moreover, the output voltage variation is more likely to be severe because changes in the load power factor. For example an alternator AVR changes the alternator field current to compensate for either increase or decrease load voltage. A controller is used to increase or decrease the field current through field circuit. As the AC voltage falls field controller circuit causes to increase the flux and thus induces increased voltage and vice verse
