Every Engg. know that =dia*dia/162.2 is Steel weight Formula, But very less people Know that orgin of 162.2 asumption.

Answer Posted / rajnath rajbhar

Density of reinforcement steel is = 0.00785 kg/mm2 for 1 mm length
Apply formula M=D x V

M = (0.00785 x 3.142 x d x d)/4
M = 0.006166175
for remembering we are using 1/162.2 as it is equal to 0.006166175

So for unit weight we use = (d x d)/ 162.2
