What are the states in Mobility Management?Explain the each briefly.

Mobility Management is The process starts when the Ms is
swithed on.MM has following states
a.swithOn
b.cell identification
c.plmn selection
d.cell selection
e.location update
f.idle mode
* 1st state switchOn is nothing but to press the power
button of the Ms(to wake up the mobile )
*In second state The ms starts searching a
suitable(powerful)cell by measuring the strongest BCCH
cchannel and this is the primary stage when a Ms try to make
contact a PLMN
* 3rd state Ms selects the PLMN(generally the service
provider network),PLMN selection are of 2 types A.manual
PLMN selection,B.automatic PlMN selection.
A. Manual selection the Mobile user can choose a service
provider by selecting one service provider name manually
from the given list.
B.MS automatically choose a service provider which SIM is
inserted in it,some time MS choose a different service
provider automatically but only to facilitate emergency
calls(Limited service)like 100.
* In order to make and receive call the MS must
Update(register) its location to the network.Location
update is done periodically say in every 5 minutes or
special instances like when a mobile is changing RRC state
it also mandatory to update the location
* when a MS is not actively interacting with the N/W and the
location is unknown then say it is in IDLE state.(NOTE:when
the MS wants to make a call or a call is routed to ms it
should first update its location then only dedicated
channels should assign to Ms to get the service)
