Why the voltage n frequency of the incoming generator is kept slightly higher than d grid voltage n frequency while synchronization ?
Answer Posted / raul
Theoritically it is like dat only dat the frequency n voltage of the incoming machine must match the grid frequency n voltage for proper synch, but practically it is kept slightly higher in order to reduce the impact on speed governor n automatic voltage regulator bcoz as the grid pulls d generator into synchronism, there is sudden load applied on d generator due to which there is a dip in both frequency n voltage of d generator which is 2 b corrected by the speed governor by opening d turbine valve more n more steam enters into turbine which corrects d dip in frequency n on d other hand d AVR corrects d dip in voltage by giving d signal 2 d pilot exciter to give more excitation 2 d rotor field winding of d generator.
I hope d concept is now clear 2 u......
