Why do you get a typical sound when the transformer is put into operation?

This is normal due to thr inrush current. the sound can be
heared for one to two sec.. some times and according to the
relay settings the transformer may be tripped on over
current and it is normal

in Telecom DC system-why positive +ve is made earthed.and - ve is fed to load.
