can i use capillary type dp transmitter converted to
capillary type pressure transmitter. if i removed one side
capillary tube its work correctly?
Answer Posted / k.sreenivasan
To begin with you must ask why there was a DP measurement
in the first place?
For example if you are measuring the DP across a Filter to
find filter choked condition, then removing one capillary
will defeat the basic concept.
If the DP xmr is used for a level measurement, then also
you will get wrong reading.
So unless you inform the details... correct answer cannot
be given.
By keeping one side of the transmitter open to atmosphere
by removing one capillary, the other side will read the
pressure with reference to atmosphere.
If you want vacumm pressure measurement then you have to
keep the HP side open and LP to the process. Vice versa for
gauge pressure measurement.

Why does a pressure gauge installed on reactor, doesn't have any vent line below to release the pressure? Is it any kind of designing mistake or it actually does not require any vent line? And if it does not require any vent line below it then how we are gonna release the pressure built inside the pressure gauge?
