why Transformer and DG rating capacity is in KVA
Answer Posted / g a reddy, essar steels ltd, v
The term power factor is related to load. It is not related to Generator and Transformer. I mean Power factor angle will not vary with out load.(cos of the angle between voltage and current.) This will vary depends on type of load.I can say capacitive loads will inject the reactive powers to line and inductive loads will draw reactive power(KVAR) from the line to develop a magnetic field in the windings.Active power is used to Drive the load(KW).
KVA= sqrt of(kw2+kvar2)
And also we can say Transformer and Generators Losses will depends on Voltage and current. So Ratings of these are mentioned in VA.
