RPC is Remote Procedure Call.
It is used by the system to assign the port no. in case of
a request from client for the processes that do not run on
booting of system.
Examples. : ftp, telnet etc.
You can see the ftp and telnet in "ps -ef" only when
somebody try to make a connection using ftp and telnet.
