What happens if 25 Hz frequency is applied for 400/200,50 Hz
single phase Transformer. Will Voltage increase ?
Answer Posted / raji g
voltage will not increase obviously it will decrease because
the induced emf in the secondary winding the transformer is
directly proportional to the supply frequency.
Hence the voltage will reduce at the secondary winding
when will give the 25Hz.
But it is not advisable to give the 25Hz frequency to 50Hz
designed transformer.Because the transformer impedance
designed such that good efficiency at 50Hz only.
if u give the 25Hz the transformer winding may lead to get
over heat and may burn the windings due to the following reason
the reactacne(xl) of the transformer is direct proportional
to the supply frequency. so for reduced frequency the
impedance of winding will reduced and current will increased
to large level
