in our sub station why we step down firstly 33kv\11kv then
11kv to 430v. can we direct step down 33v to 430.v.

One more important point you all have missed is about the
secondary winding current. If we step down from 33/11 KV the
secondary current will be less than if we step down from 33
KV/440 V, hence the secondary winding has to be accomodated
with above high value of current. This will lead to increase
in winding diameter, thus increasing the overall size of the
transformer, and also increase in the heating of the
secondary, thereby reducing the efficiency of the
transformer. And hence costly. So taking in the above
considerations, we have to design the step down voltage
level so as to make it cost effective and economical.
