what is buchholz relay?what is it used for?

Buchholz relay is located b/w conservator and the main tank
to remove all types of internal faults in oil immersed t/f
only...internal faults may b bubbles formation in
oil,heating winding.relay will activate during these faults
and disconnect the t/f from the main circuit...
