what is the difference blw turbocharger and supper charger ?
Answer Posted / jerry jose
Both Turbo & Super Charger serve the same purpose...they are
small compressor units that compress the inlet air into the
cylinder, i.e. more volume of air enters the
cylinder/combustion chamber. More air means that more fuel
can be stuffed in, too, so you get more power from each
power/working stroke in each cylinder. A turbo/supercharged
engine produces more power overall than the same engine
without the charging.
The key difference between a turbocharger and a supercharger
is its power supply. Turbo charger is driven by a turbine
which uses the high pressure exhaust gases, whereas a
Supercharger is powered by belt/chain drives coupled to the
crankshaft itself.
