generally companies does not depend on one technology to
serve all their business needs(few exceptions will be there).
by analyzing their business needs they will choose one or
more technologies.here i am considering drreddy's labs in
hyderabad as example .it will use folling technologies for
their business needs.
sap (ecc,bi,spolman,xi,srm,crm,ep,netweaver mobile)
java, coldfusion, oracle, sales force crm and some more.
generally sap will be used for business organizations which
follow satandard business process.
advantages of sap:-
1)very less time to implement(BCZ customization and
development takes less time compared to java.bcz all are
available in sap predefined but in java we need to develop
every thing from the scratch)
2)integration between the modules is implemented very
effectively.
3)it will meet the business requirements effectively.
4)it has more then 300 products and 2000 components and
which meets all most all the business areas.
5) as the programs and data every thing is maintained in
database security will be maintained very effectively.
disadvantages:-
1)the cost of sap is very high.
2)it is not user friendly(Rich internet applications are not
effective even though ep is used it is not supported by all
browsers)
3)in most cases it will be used as back end to our business
needs.
4)webdynpro are not compatible to all browsers.ep
applications response time is very high when it is coonected
to backend systems.
5)all sap applications are not successful(now a days sap crm
was replaced by sales force crm(BCZ itis on cloud computing
based technology))
6)enterprise portal is not sucessful compared to sharepoint
portal.any way integration between share point and ecc
possible through pi.
