In the case of web application we have to think following
points first.
Web application will contain three aprts atleast:
1.Web client/browser Eg: IE,Mozilla
2.Application/web server Eg: Aapache,Tomcat..
3.Database server. Eg: Oracle ,SQL Server
Wen client will be implemented uwing some scripting
language like HTML,
Server side will use some java or Dotnet software
So we need to do Browser comptibility testing,
Server side testing,
Database testing
Performance testing
Usability testing..etc
