What is the difference between a data warehouse and a data mart?

datawarehouse is the collection of different subject related
information in the organization like
finance,hr,sales,purchases.datawarehouse is for analysis
purpose.we can read the data only,once the data is stored we
can not change(until the client athorization).Data warehouse
will store the historical data for analysis purpose and
Reporting purpose.To construct the data ware house it will
take 1 to 2 years.
In data mart subject related information is stored.data mart
is the part of the dataware house.it explain the information
about the particular subject. we can make changes with
insert,update and delete options.Most of the companies will
prefer Data Mart only for there organizations.Data Mart is
used to Record the current transactional record purpose. To
construct the Data Mart it will take 6 months to 8
months.organizations firstly prefer to construct there
typical area of the business first on this data mart and
based on the requirement of the organization they will
implement remaining data marts
