what is the difference between potential Transformers and
capacitive voltage transfoemers and where it is used?
Answer Posted / ajay vikrant
The purpose of VT and CVT in EHV system is same ie. to step
down the EHV to low voltage for measurement and protection
purpose. The extra function which CVT performs is to trap
the high voltage signals from the line which are used for
PLCC communication.
Capacitance also reduces breaker TRV and steepness
overvoltage on the system.
