What are the Timer of RIP, IGRP, EIGRP and OSPF Routing
Protocol?
Answer Posted / ahmed helmy
Rip send routing update every 30 sec , Dead interval = 30sec * 6 updates = 180 sec
----------------------------------------------------------
IGRP send routing update every 90 sec , Dead interval = (90 sec * 3 updates ) + 10 = 280 sec .
----------------------------------------------------------
EIGRP : no periodic updates .
EIGRP : if link speed > T1 ( Hello interval = 5 sec & Dead interval = 15 sec)
EIGRP : if link speed <T1 ( Hello interval = 60 sec & Dead interval = 180 sec )
----------------------------------------------------------
OSPF : no periodic updates . periodic hello are sent every 10 seconds . Dead interval=10 sec * 4 periodic hello =40 sec
OSPF : periodic LSDB ( link state database ) are sent every 30 mins.
----------------------------------------------------------
