Whether ductile material can fail in brittle manner? WHEN?

Answer Posted / satish

Answers that I have viewed so far are only partly correct
in my opinion. As per the answers, when ever the material
is failing, it is not ductile but brittle. LOw temperature,
fatigue conditions, etc.

I feel that the questioner is looking for answers like how
is it possible for a material to fain through shear during
a tensile loading condition. Remember, this happens to MS
during a tensile test on the UTM?

Keep at it boys!!
