what is the difference between scaler and vector control in
drive and where it is to be used ?
Answer Posted / g senthilkumaran
Scalar drive means only V/F control over the motor
torque can control by V/F mode
Vector control drives use a mathematical model of the motor
to dynamically determine the values of the essential
operating and control parameters. They are called "vector
control" drives because this analysis is based on a vector
representation of current, voltage and magnetic flux.
Vector drives continuously monitor and analyze the motor
current to determine what voltage to apply at any given
frequency to produce the optimum magnetizing current.
Vector drives provide excellent performance in terms of
accurate static and dynamic speed regulation and rapid
response to sudden changes in load torque

L.A. (Lightening Arrester) is located at a place from where transmission line enters the transmitting substation. So L.A. (Lightening Arrester) is the first equipments which has to encounter with lightening, high voltage surges and switching surges. It has to absorb energy of lightening, high voltage surges, and switching surges. L.A. (Lightening Arrester) is made up of layers of semiconductors. If these layers can not tolerate energy released by lightening, high voltage surges, and switching surges the L.A. (Lightening Arrester) blasts.
