When system/application is not allowing to proceed for
further testing is Showstopper Defect. Whenever tester
identify the showstopper defect, it is his repsonsibility
to log a defect and inform the same to respective teams to
resolve soon. usually show stopper defects would be raised
as critical defect with HIGH priority. Best examples of
showstopper defect would be gmail login.
after providing valid and correct user name and passowrd,
if system does not allow user to login, then it is
showstopper defect. one more exmaple, after login in any
application, consider Banking Product, where authorized
bank agent will able to login into system and but unable to
do transactions and system is throwing an error messages in
very first page and not able to proceed further.
