howmuch current can carry the 2.5Sqmm copper cable?

For me its surprising to see such an contradictory
calculations
Practically in automotives, we calculate 10Amps = 1 sqmm
& approx 22A for 2.5 sqmm in DC(12/24V)
Could any body elaborate for this contradictions?
