WHY ARE THE LT GENERATORS SOLIDLY EARTHED WHILE THE HT
GENERATORS ARE EARTHE THROUGH NGR OR NGT??
Answer Posted / sanjay kolambekar
Small Generator's are usually a low voltage or
highimpedance in case of HV generator with lower rating
hence the fault current will be less and equipments can
withstand the same. Where as in case of HV Generators with
larger ratings the voltage level is high or the impedance
is low hence the fault current is much higheer. In order to
limit the Fault current to the required level suitable
rating of resistance needs to be introduced between the
Generator neutral and Earth.
