May I know the difference between the RAID and Volume Manager?
Answer Posted / s ramesh reddy
Raid stands for Redundent Array of inexpensive Disk OR Redundent Array of Independent Disk. It is having different levels i.e., Raid0, Raid1, Raid 0+1, Raid 1+0, Raid 5. We have increase the span of file system across the Hard Disk and Protect the data of file system. But with in the Hard Disk only 7 Slices only.In Raid Levels Raid 1+0 is not support to the SVM.
In Volume Manager have Raid & LVM (Logical Volume Manager). Raid is growths the file system but in LVM there is no limit for 7 Slices , here creating N number of slices as for the file size.
