Becuse the one effect of the entry goes to trading account
credit side and other effect goes to balance sheet asset
side.so the basic principal of accountancy is that if one
effect is debit then other effect has to be a credit.

hi friends, i have simple doubt if we completed this financial year that is 2009-10 march. after that we will file it period of oct-2010.so from apr-2010 that is new f.y.what we take the opening balances without filing how can we know the exactly figures?

M/s ABC Brothers, which was registered in the year 2000, has been following Straight Line Method (SLM) of depreciation. In the current year it changed its method from Straight Line to Written Down Value (WDV) Method, since such change would result in the additional depreciation of Rs. 200 lakhs as a result of which the firm would qualify to be declared as a sick industrial unit.
