What is your strenght and weakness...?
Answer Posted / stephen arce
Just some advice from experience because this is a question
that is positively used in interviews or applications-
On the strength part you should always exemplify what's on
your resume or the qualifications needed by the company to
fill a position!
But-the weakness part is very tricky. You cannot expect to
reveal a character flaw related to the responsibility they
look for one to have when deciding who gets the job.
Everyone has flaws but do not want to reveal them especially
during a job interview but they have to try and determine
who is suitable so they use the process of ellimination to
get the numbers down to a chosen few.
In this fashion they are trying to lead you to expose an
unacceptable behavior in order to remove you from the
candidates. And based on the pressure to be honest and
upfront your candidacy helps reveal things you normally
wouldn't or you may even just state something that is not
true but is part of being human thinking they may forgive or
relate to this nature.
The best way to answer is using a positive as a negative,
example:
I always say 'yes' when someone needs help when I have work
that I'm supposed to be doing or I'm a workaholic and will
even take work home with me to complete to stay ahead and
accomplish more to help the department.
Then follow it up with a corrective measure that seems fair
and doesn't provide any other sources to assist you in
keeping this in check, for example:
But I have learned that everyone that is not within my
department or that I'm working with that has a need should
be directed to my boss to make the decision or I now know I
complete my work on time and that's important to the company
and the time I have left I use for myself to re-energize so
I am fresh and ready to take on the work that is given
weekly or monthly.
This is the best approach or you'll find that all the
channels and hurdles it took to get you the interview end up
being wasted time and added frustration on finding a job.
