Why we use Y-Y connection in power transformer (8-10 MVA,
132 kV to 11 KV)and D-y in distribution transformer (2 MVA,
11 KV to 440 Volts)?
Answer Posted / rajesh kumar
we use y-y connection in power transformer 132kv as we know
that in star connection line voltage is-1.732.phase
voltage.so it is easy to insulate the winding as the
voltage level is low.and cost is less due to degrading of
insulation.
