If R and Y terminals are short circuited, then power will
cut. we all know that power cannot be stored.what will
happen to already generated power at power station?

Answer Posted / hm

when L-L fault occurs, electrical power Pe (generated by
alternator) becomes zero but mechanical power Pm (turbine
giving to alternator) remains as it is i.e. Pm > Pe. so
alternator tries to retain its stability(see power swing
curve for details) by deaccelerating rotor(up to synchronous
speed).if area under acceleration is equal to area under
deacceleration machine retains its stability else protecting
relay trips the machine.
