I agree with you ram to some extent.
i have visited some power generating stations where the bus
bars are made of thick hollow spherical copper or aluminum
conductors.
Reason being that AC always has the tendency to flow on the
outer surface of the conductor which we call the skin effect.
I have seen rectangular strips too but not on the generating
stations but on the panels.
