1. Grade of concrete M20 so ratio is 1:11/2:3
let volume of concrete - 1cum
total ratio- 1+1.5+3 = 5.5
cement = 1x15.4/5.5 = 2.8 cum so cement is =2.8/.347=8 bags
sand-2.8*1.5= 4.2cum
aggregate- 2.8*3= 8.4 cum
2. plaster = suppose 12mm palster
consider 1 sqm ratio is 1:6
volume of concrete= .012x1= .012cum ( per 1sqm)
incrase 20% for joint, filling and wastage=.012*20%=.0144
calculate 1/3rd of mortar when
dry= .0144*1/3+.0144= .0192cum
summation of ratio=7 so cement= .0192/7=.00274cum
= .0789bags
sand= .00274*6=.0164cum
this formula applied for 6mm and 20mm also.
plaster area= paint area

Design a cantilever type retaining wall to retain sand for 4m above the ground. The sand fall slopes at the rate of 1 vertical to 2 horizontal. The weight of sand is 18000 N/m3, the angle of repose being 30. The safe bearing capacity of the soil is 200 kn/m2 at 1/25m below the ground level. Use m 15 concrete mix.
how can can column be corrected when the design is not safe ? is the increasing the clearcover a solution?
