Generally Idoc creation is Two Step Process.

Step 1: Create the Segment with required Fields using WE31.
Step 2: Create an Idoc type.

again this also two types.

1) Basic type
2) Extension

Basic type means if u r working with Standard Idocs then we
are using Basic Type, otherwise if u r working with
Extended Idoc using Extension tppe.
