What is the difference between vertical and horizontal
multistage centrifugal pump? which one has more advantages
on the other?
Answer Posted / nitish rai
Horizontal multi stage means the operating shaft on which impellers are mounted is in horizontal orientation and similarly vertical in case of vertical multistage pumps.
the advantage of orientation is dependent on the site where it is to be used.
for an instance say there is a site where sump level is such that NPSHA < NPSHR so we go for vertical multistage pump.
second important benifit is obviously HIGH HEAD.
