what is the effect of power factor in electrical circuit ?
if we mainten power factor near about unity (0.999) our
energy consumption Units increase or decrease?
Answer Posted / rahul verma
Electrical energy is exclusively
generated,transmitted,distributed in the form of
alternating current.therefore the question of power factor
immediately comes in to picture.since most of the loads are
inductive in nature hence have low lagging pf.low pf is
highly undesirable as it causes increase in current, and
additional losses of active power in all the elements from
power station generation till the utilization devices.
if we maintain pf as close to unityour consumption unit
decrease
