what is diffrence between neutral and earth wire

Neutral will carry unbalance current if any. The earth wire
shall share/carry fault current along with alternate earth
path created by cause of fault, say human touch of charged
conductor. Insulation failure between phase and ground
shall also cause flow of current in earth wire
