how much time will take 20000 liter water to cool from
80-30 0C ?
Assume all parameters constant
Answer Posted / p.kithan
Since this system is a non-continuous system and assuming
1.The cooling medium as Air at room temperature
The heat transfer with time can be calculated as,
dq/dt=UA(Ts-T)
WCpdT=UA(TS-T)dt
on integrating,
Time taken (t)=WCp\UA*ln((Ts-T2)/Ts-T1))
q=Heat transfered,w=weight of water,Cp=specific heat of
Air,Ts=saturated temperature of air,T1=temp of water at
initial,T2=temp at final,A=area of heat transfer.
U=over all heat transfer coeffcient(assume for water,ref-
perrys)
