in a database date formate is in dd/mm/yy. In my report I
want when I prompt the date coloumn it should be
displayed in (yyyy/mmm/dd)format.
how could I do this

Go ahead and make the change in the .prm file. So you will
be doing the change only once. And it will be universal for
all the objects.
