Is there any command in Unix, other than:ls, to list the
files in a directory?

I know that my question is a bit strange, but believe me, i
too was as confused as u r seeing this question...LOL

Anywayz just wanted to know how can one add alias
for ls in linux boot files? Tell me the steps in details
plz.
