WHAT IS THE COMPLETE DEFINATION OF POWER FACTOR?HOW IT CAN
BE IMPROVED?AND WHAT IS CAPACITIVE LOD AND INDUCTIVE LOADS
Answer Posted / raghunandan
Power factor is the cosine of the angle by voltage and load
current differ.
For example if there is a load of 1KW and the power factor
is 0.8 then the actual power utilized is 800 watts.
since all household equipments like
fans,grinder,refrigerator,washing machine etc. have motors
which are inductive loads this results in low power factor,
to improve power factor capacitors are used which restore
the phase diff.
