promotion?

An advertising campaign seeks to grow awareness and sales
of a particular brand. It is a specific activity and may
or may not be focused n one or more demographic groups of
customers. As such it is tactical. Example: Ford may have
an ad campaign that focues on the Ford Escape SUV.
Trade promotion normally refers to the funding of
advertising and other activiies designed to increase
awareness on one brand over that of the competitor. It may
encompass many advertising campaigns, supply chain funding,
pricing, etc. Generally, the term is used to refer to a
more strategic approach and encompasses the entire brand
and/or manufacturer.
