why for transformer protection we protect tranformer from
3rd hormonics and 5th hormonics and what is the reason of
generating these horminics in electrical system?
Answer Posted / kumar.latif
To avoid excessive heating caused by high order harmonics
such as 3rd and 5th harmonics which cause increase in
hysterisis and eddy current losses in core. These harmoncis
are the result of magnetising current which is non
sinusoidal.
