what is skin effect? why is it absentin dc system

Answer Posted / suresh reddy

SKIN EFFECR WILL OCCUR ONLY IN AC CABLE & THIS PROBLEM WILL
APPEAR IN SOLID CONDUCTOR
EX-- CURRENT ALWAYS TENDS TO FLOW LOW RESISTANCE PATH SO
THAT HERE THE ELECTRONS ALWAYS TRYS TO FLOW IN WIDE AREA
THAT IS THE OUTER SURFACE OF THE CONDUCTOR BECAUSE INNER
SURFACE HAVING HIGH RESISTANCE AS COMPARED TO OUTER SURFACE
FINALLY I WOULD LIKE SAY THAT TENDENCY OF CURRENT FLOW ON
SURFACE OF THE CONDUCTOR IS GREATER THAN INNER SIDE

TO REDUCE SKIN EFFECT

1 BY USING STRANDED FLEXIBLE COPPER CABLE INSTED OD SOLID

I have a drawing of a wound rotor induction motor for a crane. This crane motor has 5 forward speeds & 5 reverse speed implemented of course with different amount of resistance for each speed setting selected. What has got me scratching around is the fact that 8 of the 10 speed selections switch in uneven (unbalanced) amounts of resistances on each of the 3 connections to the motor's rotor. Can this be possible? I would have assumed this would produce unbalanced rotor currents and therefore vibration in the motor. I would greatly appreciate anyone's comments on this. Many thanks, Confused.

I'm generating a pulse of 3V with frequency 80Hz (12.5ms time period) and pulse duration 0.125ms and feeding it to a transformer since i want the pulse to get amplified around 60V. At the output amplification s happening but the pulse is changed to a spike, can you tell me what could be the reason? (an ordinary transformer 220V-12V stepdown transformer is reverse connected ie. now it is 12V-220V stepup and voltage amplification happens)
