what is the effect if we add capacitor on DG supply, it has
any loss or benefit.
Answer Posted / a.kannan
The above answer is correct And what I have experienced is
whenever we put the fixed capacitor in parallel to DG , at
any moment if load falls to certain value then consequence
KVAr (inductive ) will also reduce.Due to the fixed
capacitor the available KVAr(capacitance)is excess in the
circuit. This leads to leading current in the generator
armature circuit.Armature reaction takes place with this
leading currrent that causes excess induced EMF that
results in high voltage.this high voltage reference may be
harmful to AVR of the alternator.
