In our design, the common protection would be:
1. Bucholz Relay (96) - initiates transformer differential
lockout
2. Pressure Relief (63) - initiates transformer
differential lockout
3. Winding Temperature (26W) - initiates first a timer set
between 0 to 30 minutes, and after a pre-determined time
will initiate differential lockout
4. Oil Temperature (26Q) - initiates a timer set between 0
to 30 minutes, and after a pre-determined time will
initiate differential lockout
5. Sudden Pressure - initiates transformer differential
lockout
6. Transformer Overcurrent (50/51/50N/51N) - initiates
tripping of low side breaker
7. Ground Protection/Ground Overcurrent Relay (51G) - the
connected relay in the neutral of the wye winding is used
generally to protect bank circuit from ground faults
Fire fighting protection protects transformer from external
fires. But if fire is caused internally, this mechanism
provides no protection of the transformer at all.
