In orifice why the pressure and temperature are decreases?

Orifice means sudden reduction in area. Just like nozzle,
when high pressured steam flows through the sudden
reductioned area then the presure will be reduced and steam
has to flow throgh the orifice the heat transfer rate will
be increased and temperature will be reduced.
